Abstract

The team climate represents a fundamental element within the work groups that can be configured throughout the courses and university life, which guarantees the success in the accomplishment of tasks and activities. However, sometimes the interest to participate actively is lost, causing the climate to decline, weakening the social support among its members, causing anxiety and stress due to the accumulated academic load. The objective of the research was to establish the association between team climate, anxiety and perceived social support in university students of the university centers of Guatemala, Jalapa and Sacatepéquez. The results yielded adequate statistical data; inferential analysis indicated that there are significant correlations between the variables (p < .001). The model was statistically significant, X2 (2, N = 377) = 23.3, p <.001. High social support is associated with high team climate from an odds ratio (OR 2.253, 95 % CI 1.479 to 3.432), while the anxiety variable can be presented with a negative reference level, since, at low levels of anxiety, team climate is found to be positive (OR 1.062 95 % CI 1.009 to 1.118). To measure the normality of the data, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used, and it was found that the data distribution was normal for the three variables: team climate, anxiety, and social support. Based on the results, the null hypothesis was rejected (p = <0.05).
