The daily bread of Guatemalans: work from the informal sector

This essay aims to address the issue of informal work in Guatemala, identifying the most important aspects of the situation and the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which undoubtedly restructured many dynamics in this sector of the population. Concepts and characteristics of the various terms related to informality are presented, including a brief theoretical framework regarding informal work and the characteristics of this sector in the country. It concludes with a testimony prepared expressly for this essay that allows contextualizing the phenomenon in Guatemala and a more vivid understanding of the phenomenon.
