The crisis facing the University of San Carlos, due to allegations of fraud in the elections for the 2022-2025 rector period, as well as the resistance that has emerged (including campus takeovers, protest marches, calls for strikes, organization of teaching bodies, statements on social media and in the press, forums, and videos, among other actions), forces us to consider various aspects of the role of the University, including those related to research carried out within it. A publication such as this should not avoid discussing a topic that concerns it, as it arises from an institutional context. On the contrary, it should encourage dialogue and reflection on the relationship between the context and research.
